About us

The firm was founded by Stephen Hart Jackson when he opened an office on Soutergate in 1858. That office soon became too small and the business moved, first to Brook Street and then, in 1878, to the Savings Bank buildings in Market Street.

In 1927, the firm amalgamated with Martin and Atkinson and moved to the present premises.

To date, five generations of the Hart Jackson family have been involved with the firm and at the present time the great grandson of the founder is our Senior Partner.

Hart Jackson and Sons continues the firm's established tradition of offering those legal services which are required by our local community.

The firm seeks to provide a comprehensive and efficient legal service to meet the needs of both the established and the new client.

Our approach to clients is friendly but efficient and we aim to ensure that all our clients are made to feel welcome and can be confident that their legal affairs will be dealt with in a businesslike and competent manner.
